A Maryland mother and daughter are facing charges after allegedly butchering their grandmother with a chainsaw and then grilling her body parts.
The two women, Candace Craig, 52, and her daughter, Latoya Hardy, 34, were arrested on Friday after police made a grisly discovery at their home in Landover, Maryland.
Margaret Craig, 71, had been dead for more than a week when police arrived. Her body had been dismembered and parts of it were found on a grill in the backyard.
According to police, the two women had an argument with their grandmother on the night of May 29. The argument escalated and Candace Craig allegedly attacked her mother with a chainsaw.
Margaret Craig was killed in the attack. Her body was then dismembered and the parts were grilled in an attempt to dispose of them.
The two women were charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, and other related offences. They are being held without bond.
The motive for the killing is still under investigation.
This is a horrific case of violence against an elderly woman. It is important to remember that elder abuse is a serious problem and that anyone who suspects elder abuse should report it to the authorities.
