Jean-Claude Junker was born in Redange, in Luxembourg, on December 9, 1954.
He grew up in Belvaux and joined the Christian Social People’s Party in 1974.
He graduated with a Master’s degree in Law in 1979 at the University of Strasbourg.
And was appointed as a Parliamentary Secretary.
After winning the election to the Chamber of Deputies in 1984, he was appointed to the Cabinet of Prime Minister Jacques Santer.
During this time, while he was also chairman at numerous Council of the European Communities.
He was the 23rd Prime Minister of Luxembourg from 1995 to 2013.
In 2014, the European Council elected him as President of the European Commission.
His priorities were to create a digital single market, as well as develop an EU Energy Union and negotiate the Transatlantic Trade Agreement.
