Interestingly, The Iron Sheik held the distinction of being the only Iranian champion in WWE history, before passing on, on Wednesday-June 7, 2023, at the age of 81.

During his career, The Iron Sheik left an indelible mark on the wrestling industry, becoming the only Iranian champion in WWE history by winning the prestigious WWF World Heavyweight Championship in 1983.
Interestingly, he had a nephew who looked up to him back in the day for his exploits.
His nephew Sabu, also a renowned professional wrestler, played a significant role in honoring The Iron Sheik’s legacy.
