Eberhard Zeidler was a German-Canadian architect who was born on October 6, 1940, in Leipzig. Throughout his life, Leipzig was his home.
He grew raised here, went to school, then went to university to study mathematics.
Despite being expelled from university for three years for political reasons and because of his upright personality, he was able to obtain his Ph.D. in 1967 with Herbert Beckert, with his dissertation “Über eine Klasse nichtlinearer singulärer Randwertaufgaben der Funktionentheorie mit Symmetrieverhalten” (On a class of nonlinear singular boundary value problems in function theory with symmetry).
He was appointed professor in 1970 after completing his habilitation thesis, “Zur Theorie und Praxis einer Klasse freier Randwertprobleme der ebenen Hydrodynamik” (On the theory and practise of a class of free boundary value problems of planar hydrodynamics).
From there, his career rose exceedingly bringing him lots of architectural contracts.
Eberhard Zeidler’s works can be found all throughout the country of Canada. He died on January 7, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family members.
He was 95 years old.
