Irina-Camelia Begu, born August 26, 1990, is a Romanian professional tennis player. In August 2016, she attained a career-high singles ranking of No. 22 in the world.
She achieved her greatest WTA doubles ranking of No. 22 two years later. Begu has five WTA Tour singles victories and nine doubles titles.
She has also won two singles championships on the WTA Challenger Tour, as well as 12 singles and 19 doubles titles on the ITF Circuit.

She has been training at the Tennis Academy in Bucharest, Romania since she was a child. The academy is run by former Romanian tennis player, Ilie Năstase.
When she was three and a half years old, her aunt, former tennis player Aurelia Gheorghe, introduced her to the sport.
She also took gymnastics and handball when she was little. At the age of 14, Irina took part in a one-month ITF tour with seven other girls and eight boys, alongside Grigor Dimitrov and Ricardas Berankis. Martina Hingis was her childhood idol.
