Agnes Nespondi, a Kenyan mother of 11 children, has a unique story. Her children are all visually impaired, a strange condition that began with her first child and has continued with each subsequent birth.

Agnes hoped that her other children would be free of the defect, but her hopes were dashed when they, too, became blind after birth.

According to the mother in her late 60s, she initially sought medical intervention when it happened to her very first child. However, to her utmost surprise, she was told the condition had no cure.

Despite this signal, she went to the labor ward a couple of times to give birth to more kids hoping to have a child without any defects.

However, the same pattern did repeat in all the other ten kids she has had besides her first child leaving her with the responsibility of caring for eleven visually-impaired children.

The sad news however is that the father of these kids (Agnes’s husband )passed on over three decades leaving Agnes in a miserable state. According to the mother of 11 he used to help financially until his passing.

Moreover reports claim Agnes enrolled her wards in school, hoping they would become prominent individuals in the near future, but this could not become a reality after the kids had to drop out due to the difficulties of studying with other non-disabled pupils.

As the children grew older and unable to work, their only source of income became street begging.

Presently, Agnes is pretty much concerned about the well-being of her children should she pass on too.
