U.S. Marshals arrested Stanley Self Jr., a 23-year-old man accused of shooting a Mississippi state trooper in Bolivar County on Tuesday. A “Blue Alert” was issued following the incident and at least three emergency alert notifications were sent throughout the state.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol had described Self Jr. as “armed and dangerous.” The suspect was taken into custody at a Brandon apartment complex on Thursday, according to a statement from the Mississippi Highway Patrol. Self Jr. is initially being charged with attempted murder and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

However, more charges are expected. The trooper was shot in the arm, but his injuries are non-life-threatening and he is expected to make a full recovery. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is continuing to investigate the incident.
