Tyler Mailloux, a 22-year-old man from Maryland, has been charged with 17 offenses, including failure to stop at the scene of an accident that resulted in death, nine months after a hit-and-run killed 14-year-old Gavin Knupp.

Gavin was struck by a black Mercedes-Benz as he got out of his sister’s car to look at a taxidermy stag’s head on Gray’s Corner Road in Berlin, Maryland. After getting hit, Gavin’s sister, Summer, rushed to her brother’s side and attempted CPR. The only evidence of the vehicle was a driver’s side mirror that broke off near the crash site.

A week after the crash, state police located and impounded a black Mercedes from a home in Ocean City, Maryland, which belonged to Ralph Deangelus, who lived there with his girlfriend Kearston Frey and her adult son, Mailloux. Gavin’s father, Ray Knupp, told Fox News Digital that it is just a stepping stone and not the final end product. Summer Knupp said that she wanted to be there for Gavin’s last moments and attempted to revive him.
