The Dothraki, famed horse-lords who live as nomads on the eastern continent beyond the Narrow Sea, include Drogo as one of their khals or warlords. The Dothraki are well known for their harshness toward non-Dothraki and are strong warriors, skilled combatants, and unyielding in battle. Even while they have an honour code among their own people, it is rigid and unyielding. Drogo was much too young to own any khalasar, much less one that huge. He is an excellent fighter and has never suffered a defeat.

Qotho and other blood riders are guarding him. Pono and Jhaqo are two instances of generals or ko in his khalasar, men who take care of him, and battle alongside him, and it is their obligation and honour to still serve Drogo when he dies.
