Basal cell carcinoma is a type of skin cancer that usually appears on sun-exposed areas of the skin, such as the face, ears, and neck. It is the most common form of skin cancer and is usually curable if detected and treated early. According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, an estimated 3.6 million cases of basal cell carcinoma are diagnosed each year in the United States.

Bliss underwent a quick and easy procedure to remove the cancer and has reassured her fans that she will be back soon. However, during her treatment, doctors also discovered squamous cells, another form of carcinoma, which is often the result of too much UV light exposure, according to Mayo Clinic. This emphasizes the importance of taking care of our skin and protecting it from harmful UV rays.

In her post, Bliss shared a message to her younger self, warning herself to stay out of tanning beds. Tanning beds and excessive sun exposure are both known to increase the risk of skin cancer.

Bliss has been away from WWE programming since losing to Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair at the Royal Rumble in January. However, she has denied rumors that she is on hiatus from the company, tweeting on March 10 that they know where to find her.
