Stephen A. Smith parents: Meet Janet Smith

Stephen Anthony Smith was born in the Bronx, a borough of New York City to Janet Smith. We do not have enough information about his mother at the moment.

His father managed a hardware store. Smith’s maternal grandmother was white, the rest of his grandparents were black.

Smith started working as an on-air contributor for Fox Sports Radio in November 2009, and on November 25, while appearing on the Chris Myers-Steve Hartman afternoon show, he broke the news of Allen Iverson’s retirement. On December 2, Iverson returned to the Philadelphia 76ers after a brief retirement.

On January 4, 2010, Smith took over as anchor of the Fox Sports Radio morning show from Steve Czaban, who was stationed in Washington, D.C. LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh all joined the Miami Heat during 2010 free agency, as Smith correctly predicted on his radio show. Smith stopped his morning programme and started working as a resident FSR NBA insider in early 2011.
