Where did Russell Senior go to college and high school?
Senior was raised in Sheffield, where he was born. He founded the Dada Society (also known as the New Wave Society) while attending Bath University and played the main character in a theatrical rendition of Kafka’s The Trial.
Also, he was in a band called The Bath Bankers and arranged for his Sheffield pals Pulp to perform at the university. Having graduated with a 2.1 in Business Administration, he returned to Sheffield to join Pulp. He was a flying picket during the 1984 miners’ strike, taking part in industrial action such as the Battle of Orgreave.
Moreover, Russell has produced songs for Baby Birkin and, more recently, The Long Blondes. Russell Senior was asked by the British indie band Art Brut to produce their second album in March 2006.
Along with Ralph Parmar, he co-wrote the musical Two Tribes, which is about the 1980s miners’ struggle (DJ Ralph Razor).
