Jerry Rivera is a Puerto Rican salsa singer and composer who was born Gerardo Rivera Rodriguezon on July 31, 1973.
Where is Jerry Rivera from?
On Puerto Rico’s eastern coast, in the municipality of Humacao, Rivera was born. He relocated to Levittown in the community of Toa Baja with his family, where he finished both his elementary and secondary education.
His entire family is a musical family, including his younger sister Saned and tropical recording artist Edwin Rivera [es]. Ito and Jose, two further brothers, are accomplished, instrumentalists.
His parents, who are both artists, encouraged him to pursue music as a career. As a youngster, he frequently accompanied his parents, guitarist father Edwin and vocalist mother Dominga at their performances.
He went with his father in 1986 when he was 14 years old and he was playing at a hotel in Isla Verde, Puerto Rico.
A visitor to the hotel named Frankie Ruiz made an appearance, joined them for a few songs, and was photographed with Rivera. This image was used by Rivera in 2003 to create the album cover for his homage to Frankie Ruiz, who had passed away in 1998, entitled Canto a mi Idolo… Frankie Ruiz.
