The mortal remains of former Blackstar player Christian Atsu have arrived in Ghana at the Kotoka International Airport via Turkish Airlines. His remains arrived at the Terminal 2 VIP section of the Kotoka International Airport at 7:40 pm.
Family and friends as well as Government officials were present at the Kotoka International Airport to receive his remains.
A brief ceremony was performed before his remains were taken from a Turkish Airlines aircraft. The like of the Vice President of the republic Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Deputy Sports Minister, Evans Bobie Opoku, Ghana’s Ambassador to Turkey Francisca Ashietey-Odunton, and members of the Ghana Supporters Union.
Also, officials of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) were present to receive the body of the late footballer.
Christian Atsu was one of the over 3500 people who lost their lives following the earthquake in Turkey and Syria. He was officially confirmed dead on Saturday after nearly two weeks after the earthquake.
