His death was confirmed by the Spanish group Puig, which controls the Paco Rabanne fashion house and perfume business. The cause of his death has not been disclosed.

Rabanne spent more than 50 years working in the fashion industry. Francisco Rabaneda Cuervo, a self-taught fashion designer whose mother worked for Balenciaga, was born in the Spanish Basque Country.

Rabanne first gained notoriety internationally in the 1960s, but she left the fashion industry in 1999 and hasn’t been widely visible since.

Rabanne rose to fame for making some peculiar claims on television. He said that he was 75,000 years old and that he had had many lives throughout the years.

In addition, he claimed that in a previous life, he had performed sex services for Louis XV and killed Tutankhamun.
