Since 1977, Sal Piro has served as the president of the Rocky Horror Picture Show Fan Club. On June 6, 1950, Sal Piro was born.
Piro was a member of the original Waverly Theatre crowd, which gave rise to the film’s distinctive audience involvement features and a sizable portion of its cult following. This fan base has expanded to become a global phenomenon. In addition, Piro made several documentaries and appearances as himself. Piro also had a nonspeaking, uncredited cameo in the Rocky Horror Picture Show spinoff Shock Treatment as a man using a payphone.

In the 2016 television adaptation of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, he also makes a brief appearance as The Photographer. He has appeared as an actor in both movies and television.
He also wrote Creatures of the Night and Creatures of the Night II, two volumes about the Rocky Horror Picture Show’s cult fanbase. According to a New Yorker piece, Piro also participates in competitive tournament Scrabble.
