American singer-songwriter Dion DiMucci, better known by his stage as Dion, is of Italian heritage. He is regarded as one of the greatest rock vocalists of the time before to the British Invasion and is noted for fusing straight blues, rock, doo-wop, and R&B influences into his music. DiMucci, an entertainer who was born into an Italian-American family in New York and toured with his father as a young boy, became interested in country music. Additionally, he grew fond of the blues and doo-wop performers he heard on the radio and at the nearby pubs. As the lead vocalist of Dion and the Belmonts when he first began recording in the late 1950s.

Donna and Joan DiMucci are Dion’s sisters. Dion first heard Hank Williams sing when he was ten years old, when he switched on the radio. At age 12, Dion received his first guitar. In 1957, Dion founded Dion and the Belmonts. Carlo Mastrangelo, Fred Milano, and Angelo D’Aleo were the group’s founding members. The song “A Teenager In Love” gave them their big break.
