Emmy and Grammy Award winner Bruce Gowers, who helmed numerous music videos, including Queen’s iconic “Bohemian Rhapsody,” as well as nine or more seasons of American Idol, has passed away. He was 82.

In Santa Monica on Sunday, Gowers died as a result of complications from an acute respiratory infection, according to his family.

Gowers also co-wrote and directed the well-known Kidsongs sing-along video series for Warner Bros. Records with his wife, Carol Rosenstein.

The ESPYs, the People’s Choice Awards, the Billboard Music Awards, the MTV Music Video and Movie Awards, the Emmys, and many more were among the award shows that Gowers, a specialist in live events and TV specials, directed and/or produced.
