Jeff was the son of Kenneth “Gig” and Juanita C. (Barrett) Shute when he was born on January 19, 1953, in DuQuoin, Illinois.
He married Patsy J. Bass on June 23, 1973 in the First Baptist Church in Pinckneyville, Illinois, and she is still alive.
He was a heavy machine operator for Operating Engineers Local #520 at the Arch and Consol mines and for more than 20 years at Columbia Rock Quarry. He was a Baptist. He always placed his family first, was a member of Operating Engineers Local #520, loved being outside and watching his grandchildren participate in activities.
