Jack Hayford, a well-known American Pentecostal minister, passed away at the age of 88.

In Van Nuys, California, Hayford established Church on the Road and served as its first pastor for more than three decades. By the time he left his job in 1999, the church had expanded from its original 18 members to more than 12,000 people.

According to CBN News, Hayford’s popularity has grown due to his sharp ability to impart biblical knowledge. Hayford was a prolific author who wrote more than fifty novels (or co-wrote them) and 500 compositions, including the well-known and frequently covered song “Majesty.”

Hayford was a key figure in the Promise Keepers men’s movement and, from 2004 to 2009, he presided over The International Church of the Foursquare Gospel.

On July 4, 1954, Hayford married Anna Marie Smith, his college sweetheart. The couple has four children: Christa, Mark, Rebecca, and Jack III. Additionally, they had 17 great-grandchildren and 11 grandkids.
