Over the weekend, a well-known pastor, writer, and songwriter passed suddenly.

According to a statement from Jack Hayford Ministries, Pastor Jack Hayford, the founder and former chancellor of The King’s University and Seminary (TKU), passed away on Sunday, January 8.

In the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles, California, Hayford passed away at home. Age-wise, he was 88. After eating supper with his wife, Valarie, and speaking to one of his grandchildren the previous evening, according to his family, he passed away quietly in his sleep in the early hours of the following morning.

In addition to founding TKU, he also established Church On The Way in Van Nuys, California, in 1997. In 1969, while still a college student, he accepted the call to lead the church.

Hayford claimed that the church was facing issues when he arrived since there were only 18 attendees, with a 65 average age. The fact that he would remain there for more than three decades was due to a strong sense of obligation.

By the early 1980s, the church had grown significantly, and it is known as a pioneer in the megachurch movement.

Hayford founded TKU in the late 1990s, according to the school’s website, after hearing a “still, tiny voice” on a plane after delivering a lecture at a pastor’s conference.
