Salsa musician from Puerto Rico named Héctor Pérez, also referred to as Héctor Lavoe, was born on September 30, 1946, and passed away on June 29, 1993. Lavoe is considered as possibly the best and most prominent singer and interpreter in the history of salsa music since he assisted in the expansion of this musical genre during the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s.

Thanks to his personality, flare, and vocal prowess, he had a fantastic artistic career in the 1970s and 1980s that spanned the entire spectrum of Latin music and salsa. His distinct and bright voice, flawless diction, and ability to sing long, fast phrases with complete naturalness helped him to become one of the Latin public’s favorite singers.

Héctor Lavoe siblings: Meet Norma Pérez

Norma Pérez is Héctor Lavoe’s sister. Lavoe was born on September 30, 1946, in the autonomous Puerto Rican municipality of Ponce.

He was reared by his mother Francisca Martnez, also known as Panchita, his sister Priscilla, and his father Luis Pérez, who they lovingly called Lucho, in a low-income family. The death of the singer’s mother when he was just 3 years old was one of the hardest blows to his life.
