D’Angelo, also known as Michael Eugene Archer, began playing the piano when he was three years old.

The song was featured on the soundtrack to the film “Jason’s Lyric” in 1994 and later peaked at number five on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks and in the 28th spot on the Billboard Hot 100.
The music video for the track featured D’Angelo as the group’s choir director. The success of the track helped build buzz around D’Angelo, especially among music industry insiders.
