D’Angelo parents: Meet Gene D’Angelo, Priscilla D’Angelo

D’Angelo, born Michael Eugene Archer is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and record producer from the United States.

He was ushered into the spotlight after collaborating on the tune U Will Know by R&B ensemble Black Men United.

D’Angelo was signed to Midnight Songs LLC, a joint venture publishing organization managed by Universal Music Publishing Group when he was 17 years old. He produced and rapped in the hip-hop group I.D.U., with whom he also collaborated on production and performance.

He was later introduced to composers Raphael Saadiq, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, and Angie Stone for collaborations as writers.

D’Angelo co-wrote and co-produced the all-male R&B ensemble Black Men United’s hit track U Will Know in 1994.

Brian McKnight, Usher, R. Kelly, Boyz II Men, Raphael Saadiq, and Gerald Levert were among the performers who contributed to the song. Luther Archer, his brother, composed the song’s lyrics.
