D’Angelo siblings: Meet Lamon Archey

Michael Eugene Archer, the father of D’Angelo, was born in South Richmond, Virginia. D’Angelo was reared in a Pentecostal family with a Pentecostal preacher for a father.

Early on, Archer’s musical abilities were identified. He was 3 years old when his 10-year-old brother Luther noticed him practicing the piano at home.

Luther Archer, D’Angelo’s older brother, has given many first-person recollections of those formative years, when the young soul prodigy was still polishing his skill and playing Prince songs on the family keyboard.
