Linda Maria Ronstadt is a retired 76-year-old American singer who sang in a variety of genres, including rock, country, light opera, the Great American Songbook, and Latin.
She has won 11 Grammys, two Academy of Country Music Awards, an Emmy, and an ALMA Award.
Is Linda Ronstadt still alive?
The legendary vocalist is still very much alive but she is not well. She retired from her profession because she developed a brain disease known as progressive supranuclear palsy, which is a very rare brain condition.
PSP is a disease that inhibits coordinated body movements such as walking, balance, and eye movement. It was very clear to Ronstadt that her singing career was over immediately after the first symptom manifested.
She grudgingly had to retire from a career that she loves because she couldn’t control her movements any longer.
Ronstadt was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014. She was named a Kennedy Center Honoree in July 2019.
The Tucson Music Hall was officially christened The Linda Ronstadt Music Hall on May 7, 2022, during the International Mariachi Conference.
