Tarita Cheyenne Brando was a French fashion model who lived from 20 February 1970 to 16 April 1995. Marlon Brando, an actor, had a child with Tarita Teriipaia, a French Polynesian actress he had met while filming Mutiny on the Bounty in 1962.
Brando was reared by her mother Tarita and was born in 1970 on the island of Tahiti, south of Papeete. Her parents split up in 1972.
When Cheyenne and Tehotu were young, Marlon Brando forbade them from traveling to the US to see him. In 1976, he declared, “I don’t think I’ll let them [Cheyenne and Tehotu] move to the States.” Tahitians tend to be too trustworthy.
Cheyenne Brando’s death: Why did Cheyenne Brando commit suicide?
Cheyenne’s mental state gradually declined after Drollet died and her half-brother Christian was put on trial. She frequently visited drug treatment institutions and mental health institutes. In addition, Cheyenne made accusations against her father in the media, which Marlon Brando denied, claiming he had abused her and participated in Drollet’s death.
Later, Cheyenne acquired a formal diagnosis of schizophrenia, drifted away from her old friends, and granted custody of her kid to her mother, who had raised Tuki in Tahiti. In adulthood, Tuki Brando would pursue modeling and medical school, just like his mother.
On April 16, 1995, Cheyenne hanged herself at her mother’s house in Puna’auia, Tahiti. Both her father and her half-brother Christian were unable to attend her funeral in Tahiti. She was buried in the Uranie Catholic Cemetery in Papeete, in the family crypt of Dag Drollet’s family.
