Ulsula Hilaria Celia de la Caridad Cruz Alfonso, better known by her stage name Celia Cruz, was one of the most prominent Latin artists of the 20th century (21 October 1925 – 16 July 2003).

Cruz rose to fame in Cuba as a guaracha singer in the 1950s, earning the title “La Guarachera de Cuba.” She gained international recognition as the “Queen of Salsa” as a result of her contributions to Latin music during the following decades.

She began her professional life in her native Cuba, where she became well-known as a vocalist for the renowned musical group Sonora Matancera (1950-1965).

Cruz produced numerous tracks in the Afro-Cuban musical styles of guaracha, rumba, afro, son, and bolero for Seeco Records. After the Cuban Revolution forced the nationalization of the music industry in 1960, Cruz escaped her home country and later became one of the public figures and spokesmen for the exiled Cuban community.

Cruz maintained her professional career, first in Mexico and then in the country, she eventually decided to make her permanent residence.

Celia Cruz’s children: Does Celia Cruz have children?

Cruz never had children despite being married for 41 years to fellow Cuban musician Pedro Knight, but she adored Pabon’s children and grandkids as if they were her own, including Manzo, who was too young to remember Cruz but grew up hearing her abuela’s tales of their adventures.
