Gold was born on July 16, 1960, to Beryl Hunt and businessman David Gold. Her father owned a publishing company that brought sex magazines to the British high street. David reportedly wept when his first wife’s child, Jacqueline, was born because he desired a son.
She and her sister grew up in Biggin Hill, Kent, in a large three-story house with a large garden and a swimming pool. She was the main participant in the second episode of the BBC Radio 4 series, The House I Grew Up In, in August 2007, in which she described her unhappy childhood. When she was twelve years old, her parents divorced.

Jacqueline Gold discovered a pea-sized lump in her right breast in October 2016 and was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Jacqueline, who is now cancer-free, says that being diagnosed was the best thing that could have happened to her and has changed her life for the better.
Jacqueline started working for Royal Doulton after high school, but she decided she didn’t want to be in management and asked her father to help her gain some extra work experience.
After purchasing four Ann Summers stores in 1972, her father gave Jacqueline, then nineteen, summer work experience in May 1979; Jacqueline was paid £45 per week, less than the tea lady.
