Tyler developed a serious drug and alcohol addiction by the late 1970s and early 1980s, and the band’s fame declined. Aerosmith later made a comeback with the multi-platinum albums Permanent Vacation, Pump, Get a Grip, and Nine Lives, which produced thirteen Top 40 hits and earned the band countless honors.

During this period, the band embarked on their most extensive concert tours marketed their singles with conceptual music videos, and appeared in television, film, and video games.
