Lemmon was born in an elevator at Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Newton, Massachusetts, on February 8, 1925. Mildred Burgess (née LaRue; 1896-1967) and John Uhler Lemmon II (1893-1962), president of the Doughnut Corporation of America, were his parents.

Jack Lemmon was raised Catholic, while John Uhler Lemmon II was of Irish ancestry.

Lemmon had two marriages. He divorced his first wife, actress Cynthia Stone, with whom he had a son, Chris Lemmon (born in 1954). On August 17, 1962, while filming Irma La Douce in Paris, Lemmon married actress Felicia Farr. Courtney, the couple’s daughter, was born in 1966. From Farr’s previous marriage to Lee Farr, Lemmon was Denise’s stepfather.  Among his close friends were actors Tony Curtis and Kevin Spacey.

Christopher Boyd Lemmon (born June 22, 1954) is a writer and actor from the United States. In Sedona, Arizona, Lemmon attended the Verde Valley School. His father encouraged him to study piano because he had musical talent.

After graduating from the California Institute of the Arts with degrees in classical piano and composition, as well as theater, Lemmon considered pursuing a career as a pianist.

Courtney Lemmon was born in Hollywood, California, USA on January 7, 1966. She is an actress who has appeared in films such as Yes, Virginia, There Is a Santa Claus (1974), and Hollywood Greats (1977). Since March 24, 2001, she has been married to Peter McCrea.
