On November 2, 2020, Maradona was supposedly taken to a hospital in La Plata due to mental health issues. The representative for the former football player said the player’s condition was not life-threatening.

The following day, he underwent urgent brain surgery to treat a subdural hematoma. He underwent a successful operation and was released on November 12 as an outpatient while being under medical observation.

On November 25, 1960, while resting at his home in Dique Luján, Buenos Aires Province, Argentina, Maradona, 60, suffered a heart attack and passed dead. Mourners walked by the body of Diego Maradona, which was in the Casa Rosada, the presidential palace, and was draped in three number 10 shirts and the Argentine flag (Argentinos Juniors, Boca Juniors, and Argentina).

Pele’s Death

Pelé underwent surgery to remove a tumor from the right side of his intestines in September 2021. Even though his oldest daughter Kely reported that he was “doing well,” he reportedly had to be readmitted to the hospital’s intensive care unit a few days later before being ultimately released on September 30, 2021, in order to start chemotherapy.

ESPN Brasil reported in November 2022 that Pelé had been admitted to the hospital due to “general edema,” cardiac problems, and worries that his chemotherapy treatment was not having the desired impact; his daughter Kely claimed there was “no urgency.”

On December 29, 2022, at the age of 82, he passed away in the hospital from multiple organ failure, a result of colon cancer.
