Before finding representation, Kevin Johnson earned an English degree with a minor in advertising from Clemson University.
He soon started landing parts in several short films and advertisements, including those for Burger King and the North Carolina State Lottery.
Kevin Johnson almost skipped the audition for the popular series “One Tree Hill,” where he eventually won his first television job. Later, he was cast in his first movie, “My Redneck Roots,” and his first main role, “Destiny Road.”

Veteran actor Kevin L. Johnson has been in both cinema and television, but he is best known for playing Sam Dermody in Netflix’s popular series “Ozark,” which stars Laura Linney and Jason Bateman.
Johnson ended up playing “Sam” in every subsequent season, including the fourth and final one, even though the part was only supposed to last for two episodes in season one. Johnson will soon be seen as “Eric” in Netflix’s “Florida Man,” which is executive produced by Bateman. He will also make guest appearances on “Stranger Things,” “My Redneck Roots,” and “Destiny Road,” as well as in other projects.
