The Fattest Man in Britain and Pierrepoint were both written by British television producer and screenwriter Jeff Pope, who also won a BAFTA in 2006 for the drama See No Evil: The Moors Murders.
He oversees ITV Productions’ Factual Drama department. Pope co-authored the screenplay for the 2022 movie The Lost King and created the screenplay for the 2018 movie Stan & Ollie.
In 1983, Pope started working for London Weekend Television as a researcher for The Six O’Clock Show. Before transferring to Granada Television, he was appointed Head of Factual Drama at LWT in 1996. Eventually relocated to ITV, where he currently serves as Head of Dramatic Writing and Production.
He was nominated for three BAFTAs for his work on the television drama See No Evil: The Moors Murders. Stan & Ollie (2018) is a biographical comedy-drama film based on the lives of Laurel and Hardy.
