Welsh musician Anthony Reynolds plays guitar. He has performed both as a solo performer and with other musicians in his bands, Jack and Jacques. While Jack was active, Reynolds also worked on two albums, a few singles, and EPs with his side project Jacques (sometimes with Jack’s co-writer/lead guitarist Matthew Scott). Setanta Records distributed both albums.
Momus created the first Jacques album, How To Make Love, Vol. 1 (1997), which had an experimental, more understated sound than Reynolds’ work with Jack. Pioneer Soundtracks earned rave reviews, but the hastily produced album (finished in seven days) received less praise. To Stars (2000), the second album had more in common with the grandiose, orchestral Jack sound and was generally more well-received than its predecessor. Sales for both Jacques albums were minimal, and a planned third album was canceled midway through recording when Jacques was dumped by Setanta in 2001.
