England’s 1966 World Cup-winning team right defender George Cohen has passed away at the age of 83, according to his former club Fulham.
Starting out on the grounds crew at Craven Cottage, he rapidly made an impact in the first team, making his debut against Liverpool in March 1957 at the tender age of just 17.
After serving as a coach for Fulham’s youth team and the England U23s and having to resign at the age of 29 owing to a knee injury, Cohen went on to work in the construction and real estate industries.
Cohen, though, is best known for his work on the football field. Together with Roger Hunt, Alan Ball, Ray Wilson, and Nobby Stiles, Cohen received an MBE in 2000 for his contributions to football.
He was born on October 22,1939 and died today, December 23.

Cohen’s parents were Lewis Cohen (father) and Kate Cohen (mother).
He grew up with his brother Peter Cohen.
Spouse and Children
His wife is Daphne Cohen and they had two sons who are Anthony Cohen and’s Andrew Cohen.
