Tina Blacker was born in New York City on February 11, 1934, and her parents divorced when she was four years old.
Her mother Sylvia (née Horn), later Myers, a fashion model, raised her as an only child. Tina’s father, Joseph Blacker, owned a candy store in Brooklyn before becoming an accountant.
The name “Louise” was reportedly added to her name during her senior year of high school after she mentioned to her drama teacher that she was the only girl in her class without a middle name, and he suggested it. After high school, she went to Miami University in Ohio.
Louise made her film debut in God’s Little Acre in 1958. The National Art Council named her the “World’s Most Beautiful Redhead” that same year. The following year, she co-starred with Robert Ryan in Day of the Outlaw. She rose to prominence as a leading lady for stars such as Robert Taylor and Richard Widmark, often in gloomy roles. She turned down roles in Li’l Abner and Operation Petticoat, instead choosing to perform on Broadway and in Italian films. The Siege of Syracuse and Garibaldi were two of her Italian film credits (both in 1960).
