American actress Sitara Attaie, who was born in Afghanistan, is American and Dutch. Living in Afghanistan, India, the Netherlands, and now the United States during her formative years allowed her to pick up multiple languages.

She speaks conversational Farsi, Dutch, German, Hindi, Urdu, Pashto, and fluent Dari and Farsi.

She played Samira Noori on Homeland.

The University of Groningen awarded Sitara a BFA in English Literature; Hanze Hoge School awarded her an Associates Degree in Teacher Training; and Hoge School van Utrecht awarded her a Certificate in Journalism. At Diana Castle’s The Imagined Life, The Lee Strasberg, and The Actor’s Workshop in Hollywood, Sitara received professional training in acting. She has contributed to television programs like The X-Files, Homeland, Stumptown, and True Blood. Sitara won multiple Dutch National Dance Championships (Kunstbende) and talent-shows during her early years in Europe. She has choreographed numerous music videos, Bollywood movie songs, and advertisements.

Additionally, she worked on many Dutch television projects (VARA’s 12X12, SBS6’s Missen), and she freelanced as a journalist for a variety of publications (Spunk.nl, Cultuur Scouts Magazine).
