Born on July 17, 1980, Philip Martin Lawrence II is an American songwriter and record producer best known for his collaborations with Bruno Mars as part of the songwriting and production duo The Smeezingtons.
In 2010, Lawrence gained his first significant recognition when he was nominated for five Grammy Awards, including Producer of the Year, Non-Classical. He garnered ten Grammy nominations from 2010 to 2012, and in 2013 he shared the “Best Pop Vocal Album” prize with Bruno Mars for Unorthodox Jukebox.
Philip Lawrence also made his own solo album, Letters I Never Sent, available in the same year. He then performed with the Red Hot Chili Peppers in the second-most watched Super Bowl Halftime Show, which attracted 115.3 million viewers.
Philip Lawrence performed in the Super Bowl once more in 2016 alongside Coldplay, Lady Gaga, and Beyoncé for another Halftime Show. Lawrence has written and produced hit songs for Adele, Flo Rida, Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa, CeeLo Green, and other artists in addition to Bruno Mars.
