American actor and filmmaker Ethan Green Hawke was born on November 6, 1970. He has received nominations for four Academy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, and a Tony Award. Hawke has directed a documentary, three off-Broadway plays, and three feature films.
His previous works include three books and one graphic novel. Before making his breakthrough in the drama Dead Poets Society in 1989, he made his acting debut in the science fiction film Explorers in 1985. He made appearances in a variety of films prior to his critically acclaimed role in the Generation X thriller Reality Bites in 1994.

Ethan and his wife Ryan gave birth to their first child, Clementine Jane Hawke, in July 2008.
