36-year-old Michael Oher formerly played in the National Football League for the Baltimore Ravens as an offensive tackle.

Michael Lewis’s book The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game, published in 2006, and the Academy Award-winning film, The Blind Side, both covered Michael Oher’s life as a high school and college football player.

Michael Jerome Williams Sr. cause of death: What happened to Michael Oher’s father?

Oher’s biological father was stabbed and killed in jail. He lived his whole life moving in and out of prison because he couldn’t stay away from a life of crime.

Oher chose to play college football with the Ole Miss Rebels. He ultimately made that choice due to the fact that both of his adoptive parents had their college education in that school. The National Collegiate Athletic Association launched an investigation as a result of Michael Oher’s choice to play football with the Ole Miss Rebels.

According to them, Oher’s GPA was too low to qualify for a Division I scholarship. After a lot of back and forth the case was finally closed by the NCAA allowing Oher’s to play for the Ole Miss Rebels.
