Did Michael Oher play college football?
Yes, Oher played football at a Memphis public high school during his freshman year of high school. He applied for admission to Briarcrest Christian School on the recommendation of Tony Henderson, an auto mechanic with whom he was temporarily residing.
Because Henderson was putting his son in the school to fulfill the dying wish of the boy’s grandmother, Henderson thought Oher might follow. Oher’s application was given to the headmaster by the school’s football coach, Hugh Freeze, and the headmaster agreed to admit Oher if he first completed a home study course.
The headmaster learned that Oher had abandoned the public school system because of his prerequisite, so he allowed him to be admitted despite not completing the course.
