Jonathan James Irwin (born 18 November 1973) is an English television presenter, writer, lecturer, business and property expert, and business and property expert.
Irwin grew up on a small farm in the Leicestershire village of Bitteswell. Irwin attended Lutterworth Grammar School and Lutterworth Community College. He graduated from Birmingham City University with a degree in Estate Management.
Irwin worked for business transfer specialists Christie & Co for three years, rising to the position of associate director before joining Colliers International.
Irwin was chosen from hundreds of applicants to present Channel 4’s show A Place in the Sun – Home or Away in 2004, along with co-presenter Jasmine Harman, and has filmed over 200 episodes all over Britain. The show is also shown on More4, Discovery Real Time, and Discovery Travel & Living, as well as channels in Europe and the rest of the world, including New Zealand, Australia, and South Africa. In 2022, Irwin accused the producers of A Place in the Sun of firing him as a presenter after 18 years due to a cancer diagnosis, which left his mood “really low.”
Jonnie Irwin illness, wheelchar & accident: When was Jonnie Irwin diagnosed?
Irwin revealed that he had terminal lung cancer on November 13, 2022, after being diagnosed in 2020. Irwin told Hello! in an interview, “I don’t know how much longer I have, but I try to stay optimistic, and my attitude is that I’m living with cancer rather than dying from it.
I set little markers – things I want to be present for – and do everything I can to put off that day as long as possible. That is something I owe to Jess and our boys. Some people in my position have bucket lists, but I just want our family to do as much as we can.”
Jonnie Irwin has spoken out about a terrible accident he had while hosting the Channel 4 show A Place in the Sun. The TV personality appeared on Steph’s Packed Lunch earlier this year to discuss how he broke his nose while filming in Spain by slamming through a patio door. “With a few notable exceptions, most people clean their houses to within an inch of their lives, and this couple was no exception,” he said.
