Calesha “Bre-Z” Murray, an American actress and rapper, was born on July 22, 1987. She is best known for her roles as Tamia “Coop” Cooper in the American drama series All American and Freda Gatz in the television series Empire.
Bre-Z began her musical career at the age of 14 by doing impromptu performances all across Philadelphia. Until she began creating her own rap music, she would sing her brother’s tunes. When she was 15 years old, she first heard Freeway of the rap group State Property on Roc-A-Fella Records. Freeway co-wrote and co-recorded her debut song in a studio with her.
Bre-Z began writing songs together with Jennifer Lopez, The Game, and Dr. Dre. She moved to Los Angeles when she was 24 to advance her singing career. A barbershop connection gave Bre-Z the opportunity to audition in 2015, and she was granted the role of Freda Gatz.
Her first audition also happened to be her acting debut. She frequently appeared on the soundtrack throughout her time on the show, occasionally rapping original songs. At the Xavier University homecoming in November 2018, she served as the parade’s grand marshal.
