Israeli actor Chaim Jeraffi, also known by the stage names Chaim Girafi, Haim Gerafi, and others, played Chaim on the 1980s television series Rechov Sumsum. The initial batch of Shalom Sesame episodes also included him. Jeraffi is currently in his 50s.
Jeraffi began his career in Israeli film and television, but since the 1990s, he has mainly starred in American productions, portraying Arabs, Israelis, Turks, and other stereotypically Middle Eastern characters.
In two episodes of Seinfeld, notably “The Wig Master” and “The Muffin Tops,” he played the unscrupulous proprietor of the Jiffy Park parking lot and the Jiffy Dump trash dump, respectively. Quantum Leap, CSI: Miami, and Murder, She Wrote have all had guest appearances as well. The movies Waterworld (as a drifter) and Just Like Heaven come to mind.
