Weverton Pereira da Silva, also known as Weverton, is a goalkeeper for Palmeiras and the Brazil national team. He was born on December 13, 1987, in Brazil.
Weverton, who was raised in Rio Branco, Acre, joined Corinthians’ development program in 2006 at the age of 18 after making an impression while playing for Juventus-AC. In 2007, he was elevated to the former’s starting lineup, but once Rafael Santos was elevated, he was downgraded to fourth-choice.
He was a member of Brazil’s team for the Copa América that year on home soil.
On June 23, he participated in Brazil’s third group game, a 2-1 victory over Colombia.
Weverton was included in the team for the 2022 FIFA World Cup on November 7, 2022. He replaced Alisson in the round of 16 match between Brazil and South Korea in the 80th minute, with Brazil leading 4-1. He did not allow any, and Brazil kept their lead.
