Jayson Warner Smith is an American actor who debuted in 2010 and is best known for his role as Gavin in the television show The Walking Dead.

He is also known for his roles in Rectify as Wendall Jelks and in The Vampire Diaries as Cooper.

Smith was born in the city of Atlanta. He began acting at the age of nine. He also teaches acting at Atlanta’s Robert Mello Studio.

He finally landed a larger supporting role in a Hollywood film in 2010.

He has appeared in a number of films and television shows, including the 2011 remake of Footloose Anchorman II, The Vampire Diaries, 99 Homes, Mississippi Grind, 42, and Fox’s Sleepy Hollow. Smith is best known for his portrayal of death-row inmate Wendall Jelks in Sundance TV’s Rectify, in addition to his other credits. Smith began appearing in supporting roles in the films Devil and the Deep Blue Sea, Christine, The Birth of a Nation, and Mena beginning in 2015. Atlanta is still his home, and he and his wife Lisa live in Sandy Springs. He is represented by Alexander White in Atlanta and The House of Representatives in Los Angeles. He rose to prominence as Gavin, an antagonist in the horror television series The Walking Dead.

Jayson has also had the pleasure of appearing in two films that debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival.

In 2016, she released The Book of Love, and in 2019, she released Only. He also appears in The Devil to Pay (then known as Reckoning), a film starring Danielle Deadwyler that had its world premiere at the Atlanta Film Festival in 2019 and won Best Georgia Film.
