At the age of 94, renowned actor Miha Baloh passed away on Tuesday. Baloh, who was a member of the generation that helped Slovenia’s institutional culture experience a renaissance in the 1950s, will be remembered for his extensive and impressive theater career as well as for his 50 leading roles in 36 films, 19 TV dramas, and 17 TV series.
In 1953, he began his employment with the Permanent Slovene Theatre in Trieste. Joe Babi, who also handed him his first important film role, worked with him there.
Beginning in 1967, he also contributed to international works like the French-German TV series Omer Pasha, the Austrian TV comedy series Leni, and the German film Winnetou. He continued to work in the theater throughout his career.
