Robert Bernard Reich, an American academic, author, lawyer, and political commentator, was born on June 24, 1946. He served as Secretary of Labor in President Bill Clinton’s cabinet from 1993 to 1997 after working in the administrations of Presidents Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter. He also served on the economic transition advisory board for President Barack Obama.

In 1973, Reich wed British-born attorney Clare Dalton in Cambridge, UK; their divorce was finalized in 2012.
Since January 2006, Reich has served as the Chancellor’s Professor of Public Policy at the UC Berkeley Goldman School of Public Policy. He previously held the positions of Lecturer at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and Professor of Social and Economic Policy at Brandeis University’s Heller School for Social Policy and Management.

On shows including Erin Burnett OutFront, CNN Tonight, Anderson Cooper’s AC360, Hardball with Chris Matthews, This Week with George Stephanopoulos, Kudlow & Company on CNBC, and APM’s Marketplace, Reich offers political commentary. He was ranked sixth on The Wall Street Journal’s list of the Most Influential Business Thinkers in 2008, the same year Time magazine named him one of the Ten Best Cabinet Members of the Century.
