Bashir Salahuddin is an American comedian born on the 6th of July 1976. Salahuddin was raised in Chicago, Illinois’ South Side.
His father, who is originally from Panama, emigrated to Chicago when he was a young boy. His mother was raised on Chicago’s West Side. They became Muslims in the early 1970s and met while they were both Southern Illinois University students. The early 2000s saw the divorce of his parents.
At Chicago Midway International Airport, Salahuddin’s father was a mechanic for Midway Airlines. The family had access to numerous stand-by flights around the United States because they were family members of airline employees. He gives his father credit for instilling in him what he calls ethical work values.
Bashir is married to actress Chandra Russell and they have a son together.

As an actor, Salahuddin has appeared on Superstore, Snatched, Arrested Development, Single Parents, Looking, and The Mindy Project. He was cast as the male lead in a Hulu pilot comedy, Crushed, co-starring with Regina Hall. Salahuddin co-created the comedy show South Side with his wife Chandra Riddle. He was cast as a recurring character on GLOW, which premiered in 2017.
